President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially sworn in High Chief Ambassador Soni Obache Abang, the Otu Agriya II of Boki Nation, as the first Executive Director of Finance and Administration of the newly established South South Development Commission (SSDC).

The inauguration, which took place in Abuja, marks a historic milestone for the Boki Nation and Cross River State, as Chief Abang assumes a key role in advancing development across the South-South region.

His appointment has been widely described as a recognition of his capacity, integrity, and commitment to public service. Youth groups, under the umbrella of Boki Youths for Peace and Development Worldwide, hailed the development, saying it brings pride to the Boki people and reinforces their hope for inclusiveness and sustainable growth.

“We believe that his vision and experience will bring lasting impact in advancing the goals of the Commission while upholding values of accountability and service to humanity,” the group said in a congratulatory message.

High Chief Abang, who holds the traditional title of Otu Agriya II, is expected to play a critical role in strengthening the Commission’s financial and administrative framework as it begins its mandate of driving development in the region.
