Nigerian author Mfam Isaiah has emerged as the Best Novelist of the Year 2025, an award presented by Creative Prowess Publishing, following a rigorous review process that left the writer both surprised and deeply grateful.
In his personal account, the author revealed that he was initially selected in two major categories, Playwright of the Year and Novelist of the Year. Choosing which of his many works to submit for the award proved to be a difficult task, given his long list of published plays and novels.
While expressing gratitude to God despite not winning one of the categories, Mfam Isaiah highlighted the emotional connection he has with several of his books, including The Return of the Crown, which he described as the work that introduced him into the business of writing, as well as My Degree Certificate and The Metamorphosis of an African Maiden.
Interestingly, the novel that eventually won the award. My Stingy Husband was not initially his preferred choice. The author admitted that the book was “the last on his mind,” even stating that he would have chosen The Intellectual Stargirl over it.
However, members of his WhatsApp literary group, MFAM ISAIAH BOOKS, made up of secondary school teachers, corps members, student teachers, and school proprietors, strongly insisted that My Stingy Husband be submitted for the award. Their unanimous decision proved decisive.
To his surprise and delight, My Stingy Husband went on to win Best Novelist of the Year 2025, a moment the author described with both humor and humility.
Mfam Isaiah concluded by expressing heartfelt appreciation to Sir Oliver Sam-Ken and Creative Prowess Publishing for the honour, noting that the recognition is one he does not take lightly.
