Maj. Gen. Moses Bisong Obi (Retired), OON, widely respected for his distinguished military service and international peace-building engagements, has steadily emerged as a transformative leader within the Ochibe Bokyi socio-cultural body of the Boki Nation. As Global Chairman of Ochibe Bokyi Worldwide, Gen. Obi carries a bold vision for unity, peace, cultural renaissance, and democratic accountability among sons and daughters of Boki Local Government Area in Cross River State, Nigeria.

Championing Cultural Identity and Community Values
Under his leadership, Ochibe Bokyi has reinforced the importance of cultural expression, unity, and ethnic values that bind the Boki people across Nigeria and in the diaspora. Gen. Obi has publicly highlighted the need to protect Boki cultural heritage — including language, arts, and traditional festivals — while fostering deep bonds of brotherhood among all community members.

He has also consistently used major cultural gatherings such as the annual Boki New Yam Festival to remind indigenes of their shared heritage, instilling messages of love, mutual respect, and collective responsibility for community development and peace.

Leadership Rooted in Service and Accountability
Gen. Obi’s stewardship goes beyond ceremonial roles. In 2025, he convened a major hybrid meeting of Ochibe Bokyi leaders, traditional rulers, youth representatives, and regional stakeholders at Oku-Bushuyu, focusing on critical issues like insecurity, communal disputes, and local development, as well as the constitution of a new Ochibe Bokyi Executive Council.

His reaffirmed pledge to serve the Boki people with dedication and unity of purpose reflects his commitment to inclusive, people-centered leadership.

Observers and community members see this inclusive approach as laying the groundwork for a credible and accountable electoral process within the socio-cultural body — a departure from opaque or informal selection practices of the past.

_Commitment to Transparent and Accountable Elections._

One of Gen. Obi’s most significant commitments is his insistence that the next Ochibe Bokyi elections will be conducted with unprecedented transparency and accountability.

This intent arises from a deep conviction that the unity and progress of the Boki Nation require leadership chosen freely and fairly by the people — not imposed by narrow interests or behind-the-scenes decisions.

Though specific electoral guidelines and timelines are being finalized, Gen. Obi’s emphasis on openness includes:
Clear communication of election procedures to all chapters and members
Active engagement of youth and diaspora networks in the nomination and voting processes
Use of democratic principles that encourage competition based on merit and service.

_Oversight mechanisms to ensure fairness and prevent manipulation_ .

These steps — already discussed informally within Ochibe Bokyi forums and in broader community planning — signal a transformation in how socio-cultural leadership is legitimized among the Bokis.

_A Unified Vision for Boki’s Future._

Gen. Obi’s philosophy is that leadership must be both honest and accountable to be effective. He champions a leadership culture that listens to grassroots voices, embraces diverse perspectives, and aligns with universally recognized democratic norms.

Community elders, religious leaders, youth representatives, and political figures alike have expressed confidence in his ability to guide Ochibe Bokyi toward a landmark election — one that sets new standards for integrity in the Boki Nation.

The Boki people now look forward to an electoral process that embodies Gen. Obi’s values: inclusivity, transparency, accountability, and unity — not just for the sake of tradition, but as a foundation for sustainable development and collective prosperity.
