Governor of Bassey Otu has expressed strong confidence that Bola Ahmed Tinubu will secure overwhelming support from Cross River State in the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during a high-level stakeholders’ engagement in Calabar, the governor assured party faithful that the state is committed to delivering a significant bloc of votes in favour of the President, citing ongoing political alignment and grassroots mobilisation efforts.
Otu noted that the ruling All Progressives Congress in the state has intensified strategies across wards and local government areas to ensure maximum voter turnout and consolidation of support ahead of the polls.
According to him, the renewed unity within the party, alongside increasing collaboration between the state and the Federal Government, will play a crucial role in achieving the ambitious target.
The governor also used the opportunity to call for greater federal presence in Cross River, particularly in areas of economic development and political inclusion. He stressed the need for the restoration of the state’s oil-producing status and increased federal appointments for indigenes, arguing that such moves would further strengthen public confidence and participation.
Key political figures, including party leaders, lawmakers, and stakeholders who attended the meeting, echoed the governor’s position, pledging to mobilise voters at the grassroots level to ensure victory for Tinubu and the APC in 2027.
The development signals early political positioning within the state, as parties begin to build momentum ahead of what is expected to be a highly competitive election cycle.
