Kenya Withdraws Final Police Unit, Ends Haiti Mission

Kenya has formally concluded its deployment to Haiti under the Multinational Security Support Mission. Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen described the 18-month operation as a success in reducing gang violence and restoring stability.

He also paid tribute to fallen officers who lost their lives during the mission, describing their sacrifice as a testament to Kenya's dedication to peacekeeping. The Kenya-led deployment, launched in mid-2024, has been working closely with Haitian authorities to restore order and strengthen local policing capacity.

Despite its achievements, the mission faced challenges, including limited personnel and allegations of misconduct. Murkomen said that all allegations were taken seriously and investigated, underscoring Kenya's commitment to professionalism and accountability.
