The declaration, held on Thursday, April 23, took place at his private country residence in Oturikang, Njua-Kaku, Boki. The event drew a significant grassroots presence, including 10 of the 11 ward chairmen, nine ward women leaders, nine ward secretaries, and 10 ward youth leaders across Boki LGA. The gathering also attracted over 2,000 supporters, comprising traditional rulers, community leaders, women groups, and youths.
He commended the Governor of Cross River State, Bassey Edet Otu, for fostering a conducive political climate and advancing infrastructure development. He specifically highlighted the Boki East-West Road project as a transformative initiative for the people of the area.
Dr. Shendam also used the occasion to launch a political support group, “Otu or Nothing 2027,” pledging its commitment to securing the governor’s re-election.
As part of efforts to strengthen party structures, he donated ₦1.5 million to APC ward executives in Boki to boost grassroots mobilization and party loyalty.
Following the declaration, Dr. Shendam proceeded to Ikom, where he met with APC ward executives from all 11 wards at Hotel 45. The meeting, presided over by the Olulumo Ward Chairman, who also chairs the APC Chairmen Forum in Ikom LGA, featured another donation of ₦1 million to support party activities.
Political observers and party stakeholders have described the declaration as a strong indication of Dr. Shendam’s grassroots appeal and readiness for the 2027 race. Supporters expressed confidence in his capacity to deliver effective representation, citing his people-focused agenda and commitment to party unity.
