The member representing Ikom/Boki Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Victor Abang, has continued to roll out a series of constituency projects and intervention programmes aimed at improving the living conditions of his people, while also positioning for a potential second term in 2027.

Since assuming office, Abang’s representation has focused on a mix of infrastructure development, digital inclusion, and economic empowerment across communities in both Ikom and Boki Local Government Areas.

One of the standout achievements of his tenure is the reconnection of several rural communities to telecommunications services. Many of these communities, which were previously cut off from mobile networks, now have access to communication channels that support business activities, security coordination, and social interaction.

In the area of infrastructure, classroom blocks have been constructed in selected communities to improve the learning environment for students. In addition, a mini stadium project is underway to promote youth engagement, sports development, and community interaction.

Beyond physical infrastructure, the lawmaker has also implemented several empowerment programmes. Hundreds of constituents have reportedly benefited from financial support initiatives, including cash disbursements and inclusion in federal social intervention schemes. Women and youths have been among the key beneficiaries, with targeted programmes designed to enhance livelihoods and promote self-reliance.

Abang has also supported grassroots political and community structures through the provision of mobility tools such as vehicles and motorcycles, aimed at strengthening coordination and outreach at the ward and chapter levels.

On the social front, awareness and training programmes have been organized for young girls, particularly focusing on personal hygiene and health education, reflecting a broader commitment to human development.

Speaking during recent constituency engagements, the lawmaker reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive development, noting that efforts are being made to ensure that all wards in the constituency feel the impact of representation. He also hinted at the need for continuity of ongoing projects and programmes, a move widely interpreted by political observers as a signal of his intention to seek re-election in 2027.

In addition to constituency projects, Abang has also been involved in advocacy efforts, including interventions on boundary-related concerns affecting communities within the Boki axis.

Observers say the combination of infrastructure, empowerment, and rural connectivity initiatives reflects a strategy centered on grassroots development and inclusion, as the lawmaker builds momentum ahead of the next electoral cycle.

As his tenure progresses, constituents continue to watch closely as more projects and programmes are expected to unfold across the constituency, even as conversations around 2027 begin to take shape.
