A Fresh controversy has erupted after social commentator and activist MC Okrika launched a scathing attack on the Minister of State for Industry, Senator John Owan Enoh, over the deplorable condition of the Agbokim Waterfall Road.
Reacting to a recent press statement issued by the former senator concerning the road project, MC Okrika accused the minister of relying on explanations and political responses instead of delivering tangible results for the people.
According to him, the people of Cross River Central are no longer interested in long press releases, political blame games, or arguments over who signed petitions years ago. What they want, he said, is a functional road.
“Press statements won’t fix our road,” MC Okrika declared, insisting that the Agbokim Waterfall Road has remained a symbol of failed leadership and abandoned promises despite years of government attention and NDDC involvement.
He argued that Senator Owan Enoh has occupied powerful political positions for more than 25 years across the local, state, and federal levels, giving him enough influence to ensure the completion of the project or hold contractors accountable.
The activist questioned how contractors allegedly received huge sums for the road while the project continued to deteriorate without visible consequences for anyone involved.
“For over a decade, our people have suffered on this road while leaders continue issuing statements and defending themselves,” he said.
MC Okrika further accused political leaders of dismissing genuine public frustration as propaganda instead of acknowledging the daily suffering faced by commuters, farmers, traders, and residents who depend on the road.
He maintained that the terrible condition of the road has affected businesses, slowed economic activities, and endangered lives, especially during the rainy season when many sections become nearly impassable.
The outspoken commentator also called for the investigation, blacklisting, and prosecution of contractors and officials allegedly connected to the failed project, stressing that Cross River people deserve accountability rather than endless excuses.
According to him, the issue is no longer about politics but about leadership responsibility and the failure of government authorities to protect the interests of ordinary citizens.
MC Okrika insisted that if the current leadership cannot deliver results on the Agbokim Waterfall Road after decades of influence, then it may be time for new voices and stronger advocacy to emerge.
The latest exchange has sparked heated reactions across social media and political circles in Cross River State, with many residents expressing frustration over the continued neglect of one of the region’s major economic and tourism routes.
Despite the growing controversy, residents say their demand remains simple — immediate reconstruction of the Agbokim Waterfall Road and full accountability for everyone responsible for the prolonged abandonment of the project.
