The Cross River State Police Command has announced plans to conduct a routine shooting range exercise on Friday, June 12, 2026, at Asabanka in Anyanganse Community, Akpabuyo Local Government Area.
According to a statement issued on Thursday by the Command's Public Relations Officer, ASP Eitokpah Sunday Akata, the exercise is scheduled to commence at 8:00 a.m. and forms part of ongoing efforts to enhance the operational readiness of police personnel across the state.
The Command explained that the exercise will focus on retraining officers on proper weapon handling, inspecting service firearms, and assessing other operational equipment in line with professional policing standards.
Residents were advised not to panic over the sight of increased police presence or the sound of gunfire during the exercise, noting that officers would be carrying out legitimate training activities within the designated shooting range.
The police also urged residents, farmers, hunters, and other members of the public to stay away from the shooting range and surrounding areas throughout the exercise to avoid accidental exposure to stray bullets and any distress that may arise from the sound of gunshots.
The Command appealed for public understanding and cooperation, assuring residents of its continued commitment to safeguarding lives and property across Cross River State.
