The Cross River State Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of healthcare workers, patients, and medical facilities across the state following a strategic meeting with the Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) of the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH).
The commitment was made during a courtesy visit by the leadership of the ARD to the Command Headquarters in Calabar on Tuesday.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Rashid Afegbua, who was represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, DCP Godwin Etim, welcomed the delegation and emphasized the importance of collaboration between law enforcement agencies and healthcare institutions.
According to DCP Etim, effective healthcare delivery can only thrive in a secure environment, assuring the doctors that the Police Command remains committed to supporting efforts aimed at protecting healthcare personnel and medical infrastructure across the state.
Discussions during the meeting focused on strengthening communication channels between the police and healthcare workers, improving emergency response coordination, and addressing security concerns that could hinder the smooth operation of healthcare services.
The police leadership noted that partnerships with critical stakeholders such as medical professionals are essential to maintaining public safety and ensuring the well-being of residents.
Speaking on behalf of the resident doctors, the ARD leadership commended the Cross River State Police Command for its efforts in safeguarding lives and property.
