Cross River-based activist and social media influencer, MC Okrika, has publicly questioned the achievements listed in the three-year scorecard released by the member representing Ikom/Boki Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Victor Abang.
In a video commentary circulating online, MC Okrika said he would begin scrutinising the projects and accomplishments attributed to the federal lawmaker, particularly those affecting the people of Ikom and Boki.
According to him, some of the projects listed as achievements did not reflect the level of representation expected from a member of the House of Representatives after three years in office.
He specifically questioned claims that markets had been built in Ikom, stating that he intended to verify the existence and condition of such projects.
"I saw a list of achievements claiming that he built markets in Ikom. I will verify those markets, take photographs and make them public for everyone to see," he said.
The activist also criticised the inclusion of school renovations among the lawmaker's achievements, arguing that renovations should not be presented as landmark projects by a federal representative.
MC Okrika further referenced motions reportedly moved concerning the General Hospital in Ikom, noting that the project had existed during Hon. Abang's tenure as Chief of Staff to a former NDDC Chairman.
He also questioned whether the distribution of financial assistance to traders affected by a market fire, the distribution of sanitary pads to schoolgirls and contributions to ongoing projects constituted sufficient grounds for seeking re-election.
"We ask again: What exactly have you done that qualifies you for a second term? We will continue to ask questions until answers are provided. We will continue to demand accountability," he stated.
The activist extended his concerns beyond Ikom, asking what specific impact the lawmaker had made across the entire Boki area of the federal constituency.
As of the time of filing this report, Hon. Victor Abang had not publicly responded to the issues raised in the video commentary.
The comments have generated conversations among constituents, with some calling for greater transparency and accountability from elected representatives, while others insist that the lawmaker's complete record should be considered before conclusions are drawn.
