The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Cross River State has projected that about 2.5 million eligible voters could take part in the 2027 general election across the state. The council said the figure is possible if more residents register to vote and collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
Speaking during a stakeholders' engagement, IPAC encouraged political parties, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, civil society groups and voters to begin preparing early for a free, fair and peaceful election.
According to the council, increasing voter registration and participation will strengthen democracy and ensure that more Cross River people have a say in choosing their leaders.
IPAC also appealed to politicians to avoid violence, hate speech and actions capable of causing unrest before, during and after the election. The council stressed that elections should be about ideas and development, not intimidation or bloodshed.
The projection comes as political activities are gradually gathering momentum ahead of the 2027 elections, with parties expected to intensify grassroots mobilization across the 18 local government areas of Cross River State.
