The Cross River State Police Command has arrested a 37-year-old security guard, identified as Ndifreke Godwin, over the alleged sexual assault of an eight-year-old girl in Calabar.
The incident reportedly occurred along Tinapa Road after the suspect allegedly lured the minor to his residence with the promise of giving her money.
According to the Police, the matter was reported on August 29, 2026, by the girl’s mother, leading to the immediate arrest of the suspect.
The victim has been issued a medical form for examination and necessary treatment, while the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.
The Police said the suspect would be accorded due process and that appropriate legal action would follow based on the outcome of the investigation.
The Command urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report cases involving the safety and protection of children to the appropriate authorities.
