Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Edet Otu, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of the State Commissioner for Power and Renewable Energy, Prince Eka Williams.
Williams reportedly died on September 12, 2026, in Abuja, leaving the Cross River State Government and colleagues in mourning.
In a condolence message, Governor Otu described the late commissioner as a dedicated public servant whose contributions to the state, particularly in the power and renewable energy sector, would not be forgotten.
The governor said Williams’ death was a painful loss to the administration and the people of Cross River State, noting his commitment to public service and his efforts toward improving the state’s power sector.
Otu extended his condolences to the family, friends, colleagues and associates of the deceased, urging them to find strength in the legacies he left behind.
The governor also prayed for the repose of Williams’ soul and for God to grant his family the fortitude to bear the loss.
The death of the commissioner has continued to generate reactions across Cross River, with tributes expected from government officials, political associates and members of the public as the state mourns the loss of one of its serving commissioners.
