The candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for Boki II State Constituency in the 2027 Cross River State House of Assembly election, Engr. Nandi Jeremiah Odu, has officially commenced his campaign with a call for unity, peaceful engagement and issue-based politics among political actors in the constituency.
Odu, in a message to constituents, party leaders, supporters and residents of Boki II, said the opening of the campaign period marks an important milestone in the journey towards the 2027 General Elections.
He urged NDC members and supporters to remain united, disciplined and focused throughout the campaign, stressing that the contest should be centred on ideas and the development of the constituency rather than hatred, insults or personal attacks.
According to him, his campaign will focus on accountability, accessibility, transparency, effective representation, youth inclusion and development.
> “This campaign is not about hatred, insults, division, or personal attacks. It is about ideas, vision, accountability, development, youth inclusion, quality representation, and the collective desire to reposition Boki II for a better future,” Odu said.
The NDC candidate also appealed to his supporters to respect political opponents and conduct themselves with dignity, saying the campaign would take his message of change to wards, communities, villages and polling units across Boki II.
He further called on youths, women, elders, community leaders and other constituents who identify with his political movement to join him in what he described as an effort to provide a new direction for the constituency.
Meanwhile, there are emerging claims of growing interest in Odu's candidacy among sections of the electorate in Boki II, with his supporters describing the development as an indication of a desire for younger leadership in the constituency.
The campaign's narrative is increasingly centred on Odu's age, perceived integrity, accessibility and promise of effective representation, as supporters argue that Boki II needs a new generation of leadership capable of connecting directly with constituents and advancing their interests.
According to persons backing the NDC candidate, what they describe as an “unusual wave” of support is beginning to build in Odu's direction, with constituents increasingly identifying with his campaign ahead of the 2027 election.
His supporters believe he possesses the qualities required to represent Boki II effectively at the Cross River State House of Assembly, particularly at a time when, according to them, there is a growing demand for a young candidate with integrity, accessibility and a strong commitment to accountability.
The claims of growing support remain part of the emerging political contest ahead of the 2027 election, with other candidates and political parties expected to intensify their own mobilisation as the campaign progresses.
Odu, however, expressed confidence in his supporters and said his campaign would remain peaceful and purposeful.

He concluded by urging his supporters to campaign responsibly and peacefully, saying the ultimate objective was to build “a better Boki II.”
