The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Cross River State says it is ready to take back power in the state in 2027, promising to provide what it described as better governance and renewed development.
The party made its position known in a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Prince Mike Ojisi, as Nigeria marked its Independence Day.
Ojisi said the PDP remains committed to the people of Cross River and is working to strengthen its structures across the state ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to him, the party believes Cross River needs a new direction and that the PDP is prepared to provide the leadership needed to move the state forward.
He accused the current administration of poor governance and alleged that the people of the state are not getting the level of development they deserve.
The PDP spokesman said the party would continue to engage with Cross Riverians at the grassroots while rebuilding its structures from the ward level to the state level.
Ojisi also highlighted the PDP's previous years in government, saying the party believes its experience and record give it the capacity to return to power and address the challenges facing the state.
He called on Cross Riverians to remain hopeful and support efforts aimed at building what he described as a better future for the state.
The statement comes as political activities gradually increase ahead of the 2027 elections, with political parties in Cross River already positioning themselves and strengthening their grassroots structures.
The PDP's comments represent the party's position on the performance of the current government; supporters of the administration may dispute the party's assessment of governance and development in the state.
