Central Youths for Good Governance, a group advocating good governance and development in Cross River Central Senatorial District, has declared that the member representing Ikom/Boki Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Victor Abang, has failed in his responsibility to the people and should not be given another opportunity in the 2027 general elections.
The group, through its coordinator, Joshua Amanke, urged residents of Ikom and Boki to carefully consider their choices ahead of the next federal constituency election, insisting that the people cannot afford another four years of what it described as failed promises, poor accountability and unfulfilled commitments.
Amanke said one of the major concerns against Abang's representation was the lack of transparency surrounding constituency projects. According to him, several projects listed by the lawmaker's media team have remained unverified, raising questions about their actual locations, implementation and benefits to the people.
He argued that the people deserve clear information about projects attracted to the constituency, including where the projects are located, whether they have been completed and how they have improved the lives of residents.
The group also accused the lawmaker of failing to demonstrate the level of accountability expected from someone elected to represent the interests of Ikom and Boki at the National Assembly.
Amanke maintained that elected representatives must be able to explain their achievements, account for their promises and provide evidence of their impact on the communities they represent.
He said the people of Ikom and Boki should not be carried away by political promises ahead of the 2027 elections but should carefully examine the record of their representative and ask questions about what has been achieved during his time in office.
According to the group, the people cannot afford to spend another four years waiting for promises that may never be fulfilled when the constituency is still in need of meaningful development.
Central Youths for Good Governance said its mission was to promote good governance, encourage accountability and advance a better development alternative for Cross River Central Senatorial District so that residents could enjoy the real benefits of democracy.
The group stressed that political leadership should be measured by visible results, transparency and the positive changes it brings to the lives of ordinary people, rather than political speeches and promises.
It further expressed confidence that Victor Abang would suffer a heavy defeat in the 2027 Ikom/Boki Federal Constituency election, arguing that voters would be more interested in a candidate with a clear commitment to development and accountability.
The group therefore called on the people of Ikom and Boki to consider a different choice in 2027, insisting that the next election presents an opportunity for residents to demand better representation and a new direction for the constituency.
It maintained that the people must look beyond political party loyalty and judge candidates by their records, their commitment to public service and their ability to deliver on their promises.
