The Governor of Cross River State, Sen. Ben Ayade has finally suspended the long curfew which has lasted for one year and two months (14 months).
Recall that the October 20, 2020, #EndSARS protest was taken over by hoodlums who looted and vandalised both private and government establishments. After the wanton destruction on October 23 and 24, 2020, in Calabar and other Local Government Areas in the State, the State Government ordered 24 hours curfew which was further relaxed to 6 hours (12am-6am).
THE PARADISE NEWS learned from a press release with reference number: Our Ref: GO/PRESS/012/VOL.II/104, signed by Mr Linus Obogo, Deputy Chief Press Secretary to Governor, on Saturday, December 25, 2021, that the curfew has been totally suspended.
“The State Governor, His Excellency, Sir Ben Ayade has suspended the curfew in the state with effect from December 25, 2021.
“Consequently, movement is no longer restricted in the state at any time”, the statement read.
