The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Cross River State has constituted its Advisory Council for the State Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Among those appointed are the President of Semakemek Support Organization, Archbishop Emmah Gospel Isong, former Governor Ben Ayade and Dame Senator Florence Ita-Giwa.
Also on the list are Etubom Anthony Ani, Nelly Andem Ewa, SAN, and other eminent personalities in the state.
Archbishop Isong, who doubles as Chief Executive Officer of Remedy for Victims of Religious Persecution and Discrimination and National Vice President (South South) of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN, played a major prophetic role in the emergence of Governor Bassey Otu in 2023.
The appointments have been described by political observers as strategic, particularly with the inclusion of Archbishop Isong.
Reacting to his appointment, Archbishop Isong thanked Governor Otu and his team for "recognizing Jesus Christ as the Governor of Cross River State" and for looking beyond tribe and political class.
"I did not bargain for the position, it is what I have been doing in different administrations," he said.
He advised other political parties to emulate Governor Otu by shunning "politics of bitterness, thuggery and nepotism."
