Hon. Chief Douglas Ogar, popularly known as Wan Osowo, has been awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Business Policy and Strategic Management by the British American Open University of California, marking a major milestone in his leadership and public service journey.
The honour was conferred on 20th December 2025, following approval by the University’s Council and Senate. The recognition places Hon. Ogar among a distinguished group of respected Nigerian leaders who received similar honours.
Other recipients include Governor Alex Otti of Abia State; Professor Babagana Zulum, Governor of Borno State; Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State; Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State; Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State; and His Eminence, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, the Emir of Sokoto. Being honoured alongside such notable figures highlights the growing national relevance of Hon. Ogar’s contributions.
According to the University, the award was given in recognition of Hon. Ogar’s leadership qualities, strategic thinking, and consistent commitment to community development, good governance, and human capital growth. His work in politics and grassroots mobilisation has continued to inspire many, especially within Cross River State and beyond.
Reacting to the development, members of the Wan-Osowo Political Movement described the honour as well deserved, saying it reflects his long-standing dedication to people-focused leadership and strategic development. They expressed confidence that the recognition would further strengthen his commitment to serving humanity with integrity and wisdom.
