Bokalum community in Boki Local Government Area is at the centre of fresh public concern following allegations that a ₦200 million town hall project captured under constituency projects for Hon. Victor Abang has remained unexecuted on ground.
The project was listed among federal constituency interventions for Ikom/Boki Federal Constituency and was expected to deliver a functional town hall for the community. However, residents now say there is no visible evidence of construction activity at the site.
According to a publication by CrossRiverWatch, the Bokalum Town Hall project was captured in the 2025 Appropriation Law as:“Completion of Town Hall in Bokalum, Boki LGA, Cross River State – ₦200,000,000.”
The report further showed that the constituency projects for Ikom/Boki total about ₦1.755 billion, covering roads, education, electrification, agriculture, and empowerment programmes across the constituency.
Despite the budgetary inclusion, residents insist that the project has not translated into physical development.
A resident, Felix Onabe, said:“As I speak, nothing is done in the town hall. The few things seen around the area are not from the project.”
Another resident added:
“Yes, I repeat nothing was done. If you doubt me, come and see things for yourself. Seeing is believing.”
The allegations have intensified public debate around constituency project execution and transparency in the constituency.
So far, there has been no official clarification on the current status of the Bokalum Town Hall project or whether implementation has commenced.
