Social media is agog as Boki-born writer and prominent Cross River State journalist Mfam Isaiah, founder, editor-in-chief, and publisher of _True Talk Magazine_, once again causes eyebrows to rise with the release of four new books — three novels and a stage play. The latest drop pushes his catalogue to over 45 titles to his credit.
The author, widely known as “The Pen-Pusher,” has again proven that creativity is power, and that those endowed with it carry the responsibility to express their thoughts carefully and meaningfully. His artistic prowess, demonstrated through consistent publishing, remains worthy of admiration across Nigeria’s literary space.
Author of acclaimed works such as _Cassava Stick_, _My Stingy Husband_, _My Degree Certificate_, _Beyond Tears_, _Small Maidens_, _The Future Big Man_, _The Return of the Crown_, _The Miseries of Ben Alo_, and many others, Mfam Isaiah now brings four fresh titles to our reading tables.
The four new books are:
- The Daughter of Zion
- A Letter to a Teenager
- Busy Mouth
- I Am a Disgrace (A Play)
The author, who is also a law student at the University of Calabar, is rated as a storyteller whose words can burn into the conscience of young people, especially Gen Z. His narratives confront, instruct, and stay with the reader long after the last page.
Speaking on why he has written so many books, Mfam Isaiah explained that it is because he believes in reality.
“I have so much in mind to say to people, but I lack the platform. Putting it into writing is the only way I can reveal my mind. So, I write. At first I didn’t write because I wanted to make money from it. I wrote solely for passion. Each time I pick up my pen, I feel a weight in my neck, and immediately I become inspired. Crafting idyllic and didactic stories is one of the things that gives me joy.”
He is an author who has won Cross River State honours repeatedly, especially in the state capital, Calabar. In that same state, he stands as the author with the highest number of literary works in both Cross River and Akwa Ibom States. For his authorship, he is distinguished by equity, diligence, and consistency.
Mfam Isaiah is a journalist who weaves together creative writing, novels, journalism, and national law. He is well respected, decorated, admired, and revered across Cross River State. Through his mighty pen, he has affected countless lives. That impact distinguishes him as a renowned and profound figure whose deepest concern remains the power of writing to change society.
He currently holds the record for the highest number of approved books in Cross River State, with nine titles in the Cross River State syllabus and five titles approved by the Akwa Ibom State Government for secondary schools.
He is not just a cerebral author. He is a pen-pusher in the truest sense: restless, relentless, and rooted in purpose.
Reflecting on the labour of his new books, he said:
“Book writing and publishing could be likened to the pain a woman in labour feels. She could vow never to give birth again after the child. But once the fruit of the womb is out, joy erases the pain. So it is with creative writing. By the glory of God, we have gone a long way, and we continue to appeal to our dear readers to give us their full support.”
On the motivation behind these four recent works, he added: “Sometimes, I find it difficult to believe some of the erroneous behaviour I see among young people. It is disturbing. I made every good effort to write what will address and redress such issues. These four books aim at correcting problems faced by young people. Great care was taken to ensure that for every issue identified, lasting solutions are provided within the pages.”
