Kenyan President William Ruto and French President Emmanuel Macron have officially launched the inaugural Africa Forward Summit in Nairobi, in a move aimed at strengthening ties between Africa and France.
The summit marks the first time France is co-hosting such a major event with an English-speaking African country. The two-day gathering is expected to attract about 30 African heads of state and government officials.
The forum is designed to deepen cooperation between African nations and France while promoting discussions around trade, investment, innovation, infrastructure, and sustainable development.
On the sidelines of the summit, Kenya and France signed 11 bilateral agreements following talks between Presidents Ruto and Macron. The agreements cover key sectors including transport, infrastructure, energy, trade, digital technology, health, and education.
Both leaders described the agreements as a major step toward expanding economic collaboration and creating new opportunities for growth and development between the two countries.
