House of Representatives hopeful for Ikom/Boki Federal Constituency, Hon. Abang Pius Besong, popularly known as "AB AMANI JOJO," has publicly reaffirmed his commitment to serve only a single four-year term if elected in the 2027 general elections.

In a statement titled "My Word Is My Bond," Abang emphasized the importance of preserving the long-standing zoning arrangement between Ikom and Boki Local Government Areas, describing it as a symbol of equity, fairness, justice, and mutual respect among the people of the federal constituency.

According to him, the zoning understanding has played a critical role in maintaining political harmony and unity between the two local government areas and should be respected regardless of political affiliations or personal interests.

The PDP House of Representatives aspirant stated that he is seeking election not for personal ambition but to demonstrate what he described as genuine representation, effective legislative service, and people-centered leadership.

"For the sake of clarity, accountability, transparency, and fairness, I once again reaffirm my commitment to serve only a single term of four years if elected into the House of Representatives. Thereafter, we shall willingly return power to Ikom in accordance with the long-standing conventional agreement that has guided our collective political relationship," he said.

Abang argued that political performance should not be measured by the number of years spent in office but by the quality of leadership, vision, and dedication exhibited while serving the people.

He further highlighted what he described as an imbalance in representation within Boki, noting that Boki Constituency I has historically enjoyed fewer opportunities at the federal legislative level compared to Boki Constituency II.

According to him, while Boki Constituency II has benefited from representatives who served multiple terms spanning approximately twelve years, Boki Constituency I has largely been limited to a single four-year tenure.

The aspirant maintained that supporting equity in representation would foster inclusiveness, balance, and equal opportunities for all communities within the constituency.

Abang called on stakeholders, community leaders, youths, women, and political actors across Ikom and Boki to rally behind a vision anchored on justice, unity, trust, and development.

He concluded by assuring constituents that his promise to serve only one term remains a commitment he intends to honor, declaring that "My Word Is My Bond."

The statement is expected to further fuel conversations around zoning, power rotation, and equitable representation ahead of the 2027 political contest in Ikom/Boki Federal Constituency.
