The Cross River State Police Command has announced plans to conduct a routine shooting range exercise on Friday, June 5, 2026, at Asabanka in Anyanganse Community, Akpabuyo Local Government Area.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Eitokpah Sunday Akata, the exercise will commence at 8:00 a.m. and is part of the Command's ongoing efforts to retrain officers on proper weapon handling and inspect operational equipment.
The Command explained that the exercise is designed to improve professionalism among personnel, assess service firearms, and ensure operational readiness in line with established policing standards.
Residents have been advised not to panic over the sound of gunfire or increased police presence in the area, as officers will be engaged in the scheduled training exercise.
The police also warned farmers, hunters, passersby, and other members of the public to stay away from the shooting range and surrounding areas throughout the exercise.
According to the Command, the precaution is necessary to prevent accidental exposure to stray bullets and avoid any distress that may arise from the sound of gunshots.
The police expressed appreciation for the public's understanding and cooperation, assuring residents of its continued commitment to protecting lives and property across Cross River State.
