The Support for Africa Integration and Development Initiative (SAIDI NGO) has called on all stakeholders to embrace dialogue and peaceful engagement as investment activities by PRESCO PLC continue to generate optimism about economic revival and industrial development in Boki Local Government Area of Cross River State.

Speaking on behalf of the organization, Chief Amb. Enu Caesar stated that SAIDI NGO has spent more than a decade advocating policies and development initiatives aimed at protecting government interests, promoting sustainable economic growth, and improving the welfare of communities across Boki.

According to the organization, one of its long-standing advocacy campaigns has been the push for the revival and reinvestment of dormant estates within the local government area. The group believes the emergence of PRESCO PLC as an investor represents a significant breakthrough capable of stimulating industrialization, creating employment opportunities, boosting local businesses, and improving the overall socio-economic conditions of residents.

“We remain committed to the protection of Boki community interests, security, industrialization, and economic revamp,” the organization stated.

OFFICIAL PARTNERSHIP WITH BOKI LGA

Documents show that SAIDI NGO enjoys official recognition from the Boki Local Government Council.

In a letter dated December 18, 2024, signed by the Executive Chairman of Boki Local Government Area, Hon. Mrs. Beatrice E. Nyiam, the council formally acknowledged and authorized SAIDI NGO as an official partner for facilitating investors and development partners in Boki LGA.

The letter empowered the organization to mobilize investors, engage development partners, and initiate high-level investment discussions with government agencies, international development organizations, and private investors.

According to the letter, the partnership was established to support sustainable investments, promote infrastructural development, and enhance socio-economic growth across communities in Boki. The council also expressed confidence in SAIDI NGO’s capacity to drive grassroots development and pledged full cooperation with the organization.

SAIDI NGO appealed to natives, community leaders, stakeholders, and all parties affected by issues surrounding the PRESCO PLC investment to prioritize dialogue, negotiation, and constructive engagement.

The organization commended Cross River State Governor Senator Bassey Edet Otu for creating an enabling environment for investments and economic growth, describing him as the state's “Chief Developer.” It also acknowledged the efforts of Boki Local Government Chairman, Hon. Mrs. Beatrice E. Nyiam, describing her as the “Captain of Affairs” in the council.

The statement concluded with a call for unity among residents, traditional institutions, youth groups, investors, and community stakeholders to ensure that Boki fully benefits from ongoing investments and development initiatives.

Observers believe the successful implementation of the PRESCO PLC investment could mark a turning point in Boki’s economic fortunes, particularly in agriculture, employment generation, infrastructure development, and local revenue growth.
