Boki youth stakeholders on Monday came together for a virtual awareness programme aimed at addressing the growing challenge of drug abuse among young people in the local government area.

The programme, sponsored by the Wan-Osowo Movement, was held via Zoom with the theme, "Combating Drug Abuse Among Boki Youths: Building a Healthier and More Productive Future."

The event was convened and hosted by Social change-maker Mr. Frank Daniel, while popular entertainer MC Puff Henry serving as the moderator.

The virtual programme featured distinguished guest speakers, including Sir Kumini Osinbu Otu, Chief Press Secretary (CPS) of Boki; Officer Pascal Okie Nyiam; Hon. Amos Otu of Abuja (Former leader of Boki Legislative Council); and Obun Cletus Jnr resident in the United Kingdom.

The speakers stressed the need for youths to stay away from drug abuse, describing substance abuse as a major threat to the future of young people and the development of Boki. They encouraged participants to embrace positive values, pursue productive careers, and become responsible members of society.

They also called on parents, community leaders, religious institutions, and government agencies to work together in protecting young people from the dangers of drug abuse.

The programme ended with a renewed call on Boki youths to "Say No to Drugs, Choose Life, Choose Purpose," while reaffirming the organisers' commitment to building a healthier and more productive future for the community.
