The PDP candidate for Ikom/Boki Federal Constituency, Hon. Abang Pius Besong, has called on the people of Boki to embrace peace, unity and love as they celebrate the Boki New Yam Festival.

Besong, in a goodwill message to Boki sons and daughters, described the New Yam Festival as an important cultural tradition established to unite the people, strengthen relationships, preserve their heritage and pass cherished moral values from one generation to another.

He said the festival should serve as a reminder of the common culture, history and traditions that bind the Boki people together, urging the people not to allow differences to undermine their unity.

According to him, the celebration goes beyond eating new yam and gathering with family and friends, stressing that it provides an opportunity for the people to reconnect with one another and renew the bonds of love and brotherhood.

“As we share palm wine, eat the new yam, break kolanuts and celebrate together, may the peace our forefathers enjoyed be fully restored to Boki,” Besong said.

He also prayed for the return of the respect, love and peaceful coexistence which, according to him, characterised relationships among previous generations of Boki people.

The federal constituency hopeful urged Boki sons and daughters to celebrate their culture proudly while remaining conscious of the values and relationships that make them one people.

“Let us celebrate our culture without forgetting the bond that makes us one,” he added.

Besong, on behalf of his family and the entire AB AMANI JOJO TEAM, wished Boki people at home and in the diaspora a peaceful and memorable New Yam Festival.

He also prayed for God's blessings upon the people, families and land of Boki, ending his message with the call: “One People. One Culture. One Boki.”
