The Cross River State Government has approved a reduction in the transport tickets paid by inter-city drivers operating across the state.

The approval was announced by the Governor’s Office on Monday, August 17, 2026, as part of efforts to reduce the financial burden on transport operators.

Under the new arrangement, drivers leaving Cross River through recognised inter-city transport operations will now pay N750, instead of the previous N1,350.

Drivers operating from private parks will also enjoy a reduction, with the ticket now fixed at N450, down from N750.

The state government said the decision followed consultations with stakeholders in the transport sector.

According to the government, the reduction is aimed at making things easier for transport operators and creating a better environment for them to carry out their businesses.

The government also said the move is part of Governor Bassey Otu’s efforts to reduce the burden of taxation and other charges on transport operators in Cross River.

For local transport operators, the reduction means that drivers who previously paid N1,350 for the affected inter-city ticket will now save N600 per ticket.

Those operating from private parks will save N300 per ticket under the new arrangement.

The government described the decision as a response to concerns raised by transport stakeholders and said it was committed to supporting the welfare and livelihood of operators across the state.
