Calabar — The Cross River State Police Command has welcomed CP Ajo Geoffrey Ordue, psc, mnips, mspsp, as the newly deployed Commissioner of Police and the 49th Commissioner of Police of the State Command.
CP Ordue assumed duty following his deployment by the Inspector-General of Police, taking over the leadership of the Command at a time when security and effective community policing remain major concerns across the state.
Born on May 26, 1970, and a native of Abeda Shitile in Logo Local Government Area of Benue State, CP Ordue holds a Bachelor of Education in Language Arts (English) from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, obtained in 1993, and a Master of Education in Administration and Planning from the National Open University of Nigeria, obtained in 2023.
He joined the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Superintendent of Police in 1994 after his training at the Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State, and has accumulated more than three decades of policing experience.
Throughout his career, the new Commissioner has served in several commands, formations and specialised units of the Nigeria Police Force, with experience spanning investigation, anti-fraud operations, port security, mobile policing, administration, operations and strategic leadership.
His previous postings include service as Unit Commander and later Squadron Commander of MOPOL 41 Squadron, Damaturu, as well as Divisional Police Officer at Onne Port in Rivers State, Tin Can Island and KLT Phase 1 in Lagos State, and Calabar Port in Cross River State.
His previous experience in Cross River is expected to provide him with useful familiarity with the state's security environment as he assumes leadership of the Command.
CP Ordue also served as an instructor at the Police College, Ikeja, and later held command positions in Rivers, Kaduna and Gombe States.
In November 2017, he became Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of IGP X Squad, Rivers State, before serving as ACP Operations, Zone 9, Umuahia, and later Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Finance and Administration, Zone 17, Akure.
In 2025, he served as Commissioner of Police, INEC, Abuja, before becoming Force Provost Marshal at the Force Headquarters, Abuja. In March 2026, he was appointed Commissioner of Police, INTERPOL, Force Headquarters, Abuja, a position he held until his latest deployment to Cross River State.
The new Commissioner has also undergone several tactical, investigative, command and strategic leadership courses in Nigeria and abroad, including training in combat operations, advanced detective work, junior and senior command, squadron leadership, United Nations peace operations and strategic policing.
Security Priorities
As he takes charge of the Cross River Command, CP Ordue has outlined a number of priorities aimed at strengthening security across the state.
According to the Command, his leadership will focus on crime prevention, intelligence-led policing, effective community engagement, professionalism and discipline within the ranks, as well as stronger collaboration with sister security and law enforcement agencies.
The Command also pledged continued attention to the protection of lives and property, prevention and detection of crime, maintenance of public order, prompt response to security threats and respect for the rights and dignity of residents.
CP Ordue called for stronger cooperation between the Police and traditional rulers, community leaders, religious leaders, youth and women groups, the organised private sector, the media and other security agencies.
He urged members of the public to provide credible and timely information that could assist the Police in preventing and combating crime across Cross River State.
The new Commissioner further assured residents of the Command's commitment to professional, accountable and service-oriented policing, while urging the people of the state to remain law-abiding and support efforts to maintain peace and security.
