The Obi-Kwankwaso Movement has inaugurated its Cross River State executive members and unveiled a new secretariat in Calabar as part of its preparations for the 2027 general election.
The inauguration, held on Saturday, brought together Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) leaders, coordinators from the 18 local government areas, youths, women and other supporters of the movement.
The movement is mobilising support for the NDC presidential ticket of Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso ahead of the 2027 election.
National Convener of the movement, Jackie Wayas, said the turnout despite the heavy rainfall showed the commitment of supporters to the Obi-Kwankwaso project.
She described the opening of the secretariat as the beginning of what she called a new political direction for Cross River State.
Wayas urged members to return to their wards and polling units to mobilise voters for Obi and Kwankwaso, stressing that the movement must move beyond speeches and build a strong grassroots structure.
The State Coordinator, Egwu Arong, said the new secretariat would serve as a centre for coordination, documentation and grassroots mobilisation across the state.
According to him, the movement will focus on coordinating its structures from the state level down to polling units, mobilising youths, women and the informal sector, while promoting discipline and respect for the law.
Arong also charged members to register voters and work towards delivering Cross River State to the NDC in 2027.
The NDC State Chairman, Goddy Akpama, said the party was prepared for the coming election and would field credible candidates capable of addressing the country's economic challenges.
Also speaking, the NDC Deputy Governorship Candidate in Cross River State, Stella Archibong, urged supporters to turn their enthusiasm into actual votes, saying the time had come for action.
The Chairman of the Planning Committee, Cletus Amawu, assured the movement's leadership of vigilance during the election, declaring that members would vote, count and ensure their votes count.
The development marks another major step in the growing political activities ahead of the 2027 general election in Cross River State.
