"We’ll Win Cross River, Our Votes Will Count” — Obi-Kwankwaso Movement Mobilises Ahead of 2027

The Obi-Kwankwaso Movement has declared its determination to win Cross River State for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2027 general election, as the group inaugurated its state executives and unveiled a new secretariat in Calabar.

The inauguration, held on Saturday, brought together supporters, party leaders, coordinators from the 18 local government areas, youths, women and other members of the movement.

The movement is mobilising support for the NDC presidential ticket of Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Speaking at the event, the National Convener of the movement, Jackie Wayas, said the turnout, despite the heavy rainfall, demonstrated the commitment of members to the Obi-Kwankwaso project.

Wayas urged members to take the campaign to the grassroots by moving into their wards and polling units to mobilise voters and build a strong political structure ahead of the election.

She said the unveiling of the secretariat marked the beginning of a new phase of political mobilisation in the state.

The State Coordinator of the movement, Egwu Arong, said the secretariat would serve as a coordination centre for the movement's activities across the state.

Arong said the movement would focus on strengthening its structures from the state level down to the polling units, while mobilising youths, women and members of the informal sector.

He urged members to participate actively in voter registration and grassroots mobilisation, stressing the need to ensure that supporters not only vote but also protect their votes.

The NDC State Chairman, Goddy Akpama, said the party was prepared for the 2027 election and would present credible candidates to the people.

Also speaking, the NDC Deputy Governorship Candidate in Cross River State, Stella Archibong, called on supporters to convert their enthusiasm into votes at the polling units.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Planning Committee, Cletus Amawu, assured members that the movement would remain vigilant throughout the electoral process.

He declared that the group would vote, count the votes and ensure that the votes count.

The inauguration is coming as political activities continue to gather momentum across Cross River ahead of the 2027 general election, with different political groups intensifying grassroots mobilisation across the state.
