Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has revealed that he once made more than ₦10 million monthly from selling Akara and bread, years before he ventured fully into politics and governance.
The governor disclosed this on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, while speaking during the state’s monthly Covenant Prayer Service.
According to Eno, his entrepreneurial journey included selling Akara and bread to workers and residents, a business he said later evolved into an early-morning coffee shop.
“I started selling Akara and bread. Back then, I was doing Akara Burger. We open the bread and put it inside for you,” the governor said.
He explained that the business particularly attracted people heading to ExxonMobil in the mornings, who would purchase the Akara-and-bread combination alongside coffee.
“People going to Exxon Mobil will buy it in the morning, take coffee… we started coffee shop,” he added.
Eno further claimed that the Akara business generated not less than ₦10 million every month for him at the time.
“Every month, that akara business used to give me nothing less than N10 million in a month,” he said.
The governor’s disclosure comes weeks after First Lady Oluremi Tinubu encouraged Nigerians, particularly those with limited financial resources, to consider low-capital ventures such as Akara and KuliKuli production as a means of improving their livelihoods.
