Asu Ben Bisong, popularly known as Asu Ben D’First, is cementing his road to represent Boki 11 State Constituency in the Cross River State House of Assembly in 2027, promising a new approach to political representation anchored on the interests of the people.
Boki 11 State Constituency comprises Osokom I, Osokom II and Irruan.
Bisong, in his political message, described his ambition as part of what he called a “new political paradigm” for the constituency, saying the time had come for the people to move beyond politics driven largely by appearances, financial influence and political convenience.
Under his proposed “People First Agenda,” Bisong says his focus will be on purposeful, competent and performance-oriented representation, with emphasis on capacity, character, ideas and tangible results.
He argued that leadership should not be measured by the size of political entourages or financial influence, but by the ability of an elected representative to understand the challenges facing the people, articulate their needs and attract meaningful opportunities to the constituency.
Bisong also presented his political ambition as one backed by years of involvement in community mobilisation, political organisation and advocacy.
He referenced his participation in the Boki Youth Movement & Alliance for Change (BOYMAC) in the early 2000s, his involvement with the Coalition Support Group for Democracy (CSGD), participation in the organisation of national political party conventions and political campaigns, as well as efforts aimed at promoting Boki identity through symbols, colours and slogans.
According to him, these experiences have shaped his understanding of political organisation, leadership and service and strengthened his desire to bring a different approach to representation in Boki 11.
His campaign direction is built around three key words: INNOVATE, CREATE and CONNECT.
Bisong says the constituency needs representation driven by ideas rather than empty rhetoric and service rather than personal interest.
He further believes that a representative of Boki 11 should be capable of building partnerships beyond the constituency, attracting development opportunities and confidently presenting the aspirations of Osokom I, Osokom II and Irruan before the Cross River State House of Assembly.
Making a direct appeal to the people of the constituency, Bisong said the choice of leadership ultimately belongs to them and urged voters to make an informed decision in 2027.
His message is essentially a call for Boki 11 to embrace what he describes as purposeful, credible, pragmatic and capacity-driven representation, with the people placed at the centre of political leadership.
Asu Ben Bisong is therefore positioning his 2027 ambition not simply as a contest for political office, but as a proposed change in the way Boki 11 is represented.
With the 2027 elections approaching, his emergence adds another voice to the political conversation in Boki 11, as voters in Osokom I, Osokom II and Irruan prepare to weigh the different candidates, personalities and visions that will seek their mandate.
For Bisong, the message is clear: Boki 11 should put the people first.
