Rt. Hon. Bassey Eko Ewa, the NDC candidate for Cross River Central Senatorial District in the 2027 elections, has taken his campaign consultations to Adun Kingdom in Obubra Local Government Area, where he met with traditional leaders, community members and party supporters.

At the palace of Kwudiden Patrick Erong in Oderegha, Ewa sought the support and counsel of the traditional institution while presenting what he described as his development agenda for Cross River Central.

According to the campaign statement, Ewa reminded the people of previous projects and interventions associated with his public service, including a six-classroom block, street solar lights and motorcycles. He said his ambition for the Senate would be to extend similar development initiatives across the six local government areas that make up the senatorial district.

“What we have done is only a beginning. With your mandate, we will do more and take development to more communities across Cross River Central,”

Ewa also appealed for support for the NDC candidates contesting the 2027 elections, including Peter Obi, himself for the Senate, Ken Egbas for the Obubra/Etung Federal Constituency and candidates for the Obubra state constituencies.

The traditional rulers reportedly prayed for the delegation and expressed goodwill during the visit.

The consultation continued in Obubra Main Town, where Ewa met with NDC leaders and supporters in their numbers.

The candidate described Obubra as a place with which he has a longstanding connection, recalling that he had lived among the people, played football in the community and developed relationships there.

He also pointed to interventions he said were undertaken during his time in public service, including a six-classroom block at Abebene and medical outreaches that provided surgical treatment for people with hernia and appendicitis.

Ewa said his background and experience had strengthened his determination to address poverty through what he described as purposeful representation. He also said he intended to build on development initiatives associated with his period of representation of Abi/Yakurr in the National Assembly.

At the meeting, he called on party stakeholders to strengthen grassroots mobilisation for the NDC's 2027 candidates.

Hon. Ken Egbas, who also spoke at the gathering, highlighted the need for improved access to opportunities and basic amenities in Obubra and urged party members to intensify engagement with communities.

The visits form part of Ewa's ongoing consultations ahead of the 2027 elections, with the campaign presenting his previous interventions, legislative experience and proposed grassroots development agenda as key elements of his message to voters.
