The Commissioner of Police in Cross River State, CP Ajo Geoffrey Ordue, has continued his impromptu supervisory visits to police formations across the state, with a warning to officers against illegal detention, extortion, harassment and other forms of unprofessional conduct.
On Thursday, September 3, 2026, CP Ordue visited the Uwanse, Efut and Atakpa Police Divisions, which cover Calabar South, where he inspected facilities, interacted with personnel and assessed the operational activities of the divisions.
During the visits, the Commissioner placed particular emphasis on the proper handling of suspects, directing police commanders to ensure that arrests and detentions are properly documented and carried out in line with the law.
He warned officers against the illegal and prolonged detention of suspects, stressing the need to respect the rights of citizens while carrying out their duties.
CP Ordue also cautioned police personnel against extortion, harassment and other conduct capable of damaging public confidence in the Police Force.
He charged Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and heads of formations to strengthen supervision and take responsibility for the conduct of officers serving under them.
According to the Commissioner, the impromptu visits are intended to give him a firsthand understanding of the operational realities within police formations, identify challenges affecting personnel and improve service delivery.
He said the supervisory exercise would continue across Cross River State as part of efforts to build a more disciplined, responsive and community-oriented police command.
