The Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Prof. Sandy Ojang Onor, has expressed deep sadness over the death of the party’s National Vice Chairman, South-South, Chief Daniel Osi Orbih, describing the late politician as a great man, trusted ally, and elder statesman whose death would be deeply felt by all.
Chief Orbih, who passed away on Monday, August 31, 2026, left behind a political legacy spanning several decades of active participation in Nigeria’s democratic and nation-building process.
Reacting to the death, Senator Onor, through his Media Assistant, Ndifon Joseph, described the deceased as a dependable political associate whose contributions to the PDP and the South-South region would not be forgotten.
According to him, Chief Orbih was, until his death, “a great man and a trusted ally,” whose absence would create a void among his colleagues, friends, associates and members of his family,nuclear and extended.
The presidential hopeful further noted that the deceased’s contributions to the party, particularly in Edo State, the South-South geopolitical zone, and the nation at large, would remain memorable even after his death.
He also extended his condolences to the Orbih family, praying for strength and comfort for his wife, children, relatives, friends, and associates during this period of mourning.
Chief Orbih’s death represents the loss of a respected elder statesman, whose wisdom, experience, and political contributions would be greatly missed.
