Veteran Nollywood actor and lawyer, Kanayo O. Kanayo, has been conferred with a traditional chieftaincy title in Obudu Local Government Area of Cross River State.
Kanayo was honoured with the title Utsu Ufum 01 of Obudu by the Paramount Ruler of Obudu, His Royal Majesty Utsu Felix Ukudare.
The conferment took place at the Paramount Ruler’s Palace in Obudu on Monday, September 7, 2026, in the presence of invited guests, government officials and other stakeholders.
The traditional honour adds Kanayo to the growing list of prominent Nigerians who have received recognition from traditional institutions in Cross River, reflecting his growing association with Obudu and its cultural heritage.
Kanayo, widely known for his decades-long career in the Nigerian film industry, is also a lawyer and one of Nollywood’s veteran actors.
