The Cross River State Police Command has arrested a 22-year-old man, Ason Onen Usang, and recovered a motorcycle suspected to have been stolen from Ikom Local Government Area.
Usang, who is said to be from Abi Local Government Area, was arrested by police officers attached to Ekori Police Division at about 9:00 p.m. on September 9, 2026, while allegedly attempting to sell the motorcycle.
According to the Police Command, the recovered motorcycle is an unregistered Dayang motorcycle with Chassis Number LKIPCKL10M1086477 and Engine Number DY156EMI7133995.
Police said the suspect claimed that he bought the motorcycle from an unknown person but could not provide the identity of the alleged seller, purchase documents or any other evidence to support his claim.
The suspect is currently in police custody as investigators work to establish where the motorcycle came from, locate its alleged seller and identify its rightful owner.
The Police Command has therefore appealed to residents, particularly those around Ikom and neighbouring communities, who may recognise the motorcycle or know its owner to come forward.

The police said the suspect, and anyone else found culpable after investigation, would be charged to court in accordance with the law.
