Stakeholders from the five Local Government Areas that make up Cross River North have declared their readiness to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu in the 2027 general elections.

The stakeholders from Ogoja, Yala, Obudu, Obanliku and Bekwarra reportedly reached the agreement during a stakeholders’ meeting held at the Ogoja Local Government Council headquarters.

The meeting came after a sensitisation walk from Ajengnle Junction to the council secretariat, which attracted traditional rulers, elders, youths, women leaders and political stakeholders from across the senatorial district.

The engagement was organised by the Cross River State Consultative Forum in partnership with the Elders Advisory Council, chaired by former Governor Clement Ebri.

Ebri explained that the team was on a fact-finding mission to hear directly from the people and assess their feelings about the Otu administration.

According to him, Governor Otu had asked the council to tell him the truth about the situation on the ground and was prepared to correct areas where genuine lapses were identified.

The latest development further strengthens the growing political alignment around Tinubu and Otu in Cross River North ahead of the 2027 elections.

It also comes months after Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe publicly pledged support for Governor Otu's re-election and after other stakeholders in the district had expressed support for Tinubu, Otu and Jarigbe.
