The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State, Rt. Hon. Chris Etta, has said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Bassey Otu will help bring back the state’s lost oil fortune.
Etta made the statement while speaking on the future of Cross River and the benefits the state could get from having a strong relationship with the Federal Government.
According to him, Cross River has great natural resources and economic potential, but the people have not fully enjoyed the benefits because of challenges surrounding the state’s oil-producing status and development.
The APC chairman said the administration of President Tinubu, working with Governor Otu, has the political will to address some of these issues and open a new chapter for Cross River.
He expressed confidence that the cooperation between the state and Federal Government would create more opportunities for development, investment and improved revenue for Cross River.
Etta also praised Governor Otu for what he described as his efforts to position Cross River to benefit from federal opportunities and investments.
He said the state must continue to work closely with the Federal Government if it wants to reclaim its place among Nigeria’s economically strong states.
The APC chairman’s comments come as political activities continue to build up ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the APC expected to use the relationship between Governor Otu and President Tinubu as part of its campaign message in the state.
For many Cross Riverians, the issue of oil remains an important one, especially given the long-standing argument over the state’s oil-producing communities and the economic benefits that should come from its natural resources.
Etta maintained that with Tinubu at the centre and Otu leading the state, Cross River has another opportunity to pursue its oil fortune and improve the economic situation of its people.
