The Boki I Integrity Group has called on Kumini Sheriff Otu-Oshibu to step forward and contest for the Boki I seat in the Cross River State House of Assembly, citing the need for fairness, equity, and inclusive representation.
In a statement released at a crucial moment ahead of the forthcoming elections, the group emphasized that the demand for balanced representation across the constituency has continued to gain momentum within communities.
According to the group, Alankwu Ward, home to Kumini Sheriff Otu-Oshibu has over the years, not had the opportunity to represent Boki I in the State Assembly. This, they noted, has fueled concerns about imbalance and strengthened calls for justice and rotational inclusion in leadership.
The group described Otu-Oshibu as a credible and unifying figure whose emergence would not only address longstanding representation concerns but also inspire renewed confidence among constituents.
“This call is not just political; it is about correcting a longstanding imbalance and promoting inclusive governance,” the statement noted.
The group further urged stakeholders, opinion leaders, and grassroots mobilizers to support the move through sustained advocacy and engagement, stressing that a united front would reinforce the demand for equity.
While making their appeal, the group also called for constructive engagement within the All Progressives Congress (APC), noting that the push for fairness should be seen as a contribution toward strengthening internal democracy rather than opposition.
They maintained that a transparent and inclusive candidate selection process would enhance party credibility, foster unity, and improve electoral outcomes.
The statement underscored the need for continuous sensitisation across communities, stressing that fairness is not about division but about ensuring that every ward, including Alankwu, feels a sense of belonging in governance.
Describing the moment as critical for Boki I, the group urged all stakeholders to choose the path of justice, balance, and unity.
“Equity is not just a demand; it is the foundation for unity, progress, and lasting political stability,” the statement concluded.
