The Cross River State Police Command has announced heightened security measures across the state ahead of the upcoming Eid-El-Kabir and Children’s Day celebrations.
In a press release issued on Tuesday, the Commissioner of Police, Rashid B. Afegbua, directed Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and commanders of operational units to intensify security operations and ensure adequate deployment of personnel across strategic locations in the state.
According to the police command, officers have been instructed to strengthen visibility policing, intelligence-driven operations, surveillance activities, patrols and rapid response efforts before, during and after the celebrations.
The command disclosed that security presence has already been reinforced around worship centres, schools, recreation and amusement centres, markets, parks, highways, transit routes and other public locations expected to witness heavy movement during the festive period.
CP Afegbua also urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by reporting suspicious movements and activities to the nearest police station or through the command’s emergency lines.
The Commissioner further advised parents and guardians to properly supervise children during the Children’s Day celebrations to avoid incidents capable of threatening public safety.
The police command reassured residents of its commitment to protecting lives and property while maintaining peace and order across Cross River State throughout the festive season.
