Popular Cross River social media activist, MC Okrika, has alleged that officers of the Cross River State Police Command are plotting to set him up following videos he recently posted online exposing alleged misconduct by some policemen in Etung Local Government Area.

According to the activist, the controversy began after he shared a video alleging that two farmers were extorted of ₦150,000 and physically assaulted by officers at a police checkpoint in Etung. He also posted another video showing an officer allegedly smoking Indian hemp while on duty.

MC Okrika claimed that shortly after the videos went viral on social media, about 15 heavily armed policemen reportedly stormed his residence at night with a search warrant. He alleged that the officers met only his wife at home during the operation.

Expressing fears over his safety, the activist questioned why the police would choose to visit his house at night instead of officially inviting him for questioning through proper channels.

He maintained that he has always honoured police invitations whenever contacted and insisted he had no reason to evade authorities.

MC Okrika further alleged that the move was an attempt to intimidate or frame him because of the videos exposing alleged misconduct within the force.

In a strongly worded statement, the activist warned that if anything happens to him, the Commissioner of Police in Cross River State should be held responsible.

As of the time of filing this report, the Cross River State Police Command has not officially responded to the allegations.
