The Youth Against Poverty Initiative (YAPI) has officially declared support for the agricultural reforms of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the administration of Cross River State Governor Bassey Edet Otu, and the senatorial aspiration of Oden Ewa.
The endorsement was contained in an official communiqué issued after what the group described as “extensive consultations” involving senior stakeholders, founding members, the Board of Trustees, youth leaders, and strategic partners of the organization.
According to the statement signed by YAPI Director General, Comr. Mbissang Joseph, the decision followed resolutions reached during the Cross River Central YAPI Project Summit 2024 themed “Pioneering Youth Through Agriculture: Crop Farming & Livestock Development.”
YAPI stated that the Federal Government’s “Renewed Hope Agricultural Reforms” align with the organization’s vision of youth empowerment, poverty eradication, food security, agribusiness innovation, and rural development.
The group also commended Governor Otu’s agricultural and economic policies, describing his administration as youth-friendly and development-oriented.
“YAPI unequivocally identifies with and endorses the agricultural transformation drive of the Executive Governor of Cross River State,” the communiqué partly read.
In the same declaration, the organization threw its weight behind Hon. Oden Ewa’s leadership aspiration for the Cross River Central Senatorial District, while also pledging support for other candidates of the All Progressives Congress in the state.
YAPI noted that its endorsement was rooted in its constitutional principles on community development and strategic partnerships, emphasizing support for policies and leaders that promote economic sustainability, peace, agricultural advancement, and youth inclusion.
The organization further called on youths, farmers, stakeholders, and development partners across Cross River Central to support leaders and policies focused on long-term development and poverty reduction.
The communiqué comes amid increasing political consultations and alignments ahead of the 2027 election cycle in Cross River State and across Nigeria.
