Former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Peter Obi, has alleged that powerful forces are working behind the scenes to frustrate his ambition of contesting the 2027 presidential election.

Obi made the claim while addressing students and members of the academic community at Madonna University, Okija, Anambra State. According to him, there are deliberate efforts aimed at preventing him from participating in the next presidential race, but he expressed confidence that those plans would not succeed.

The former governor stated that if Nigerians were aware of the level of pressure and opposition he currently faces, many would be surprised. He maintained that despite the obstacles, he remains committed to his vision of building a better Nigeria and will not be intimidated into abandoning his political ambition.

Obi stressed that genuine leadership requires courage, resilience and the willingness to confront challenges. He said those attempting to discourage him would ultimately fail because his mission is driven by the desire to serve Nigerians rather than personal interest.

His comments come as political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections continue to gather momentum, with parties and key political figures already engaging in consultations and strategic realignments.

The statement is expected to spark fresh debate within Nigeria's political landscape, particularly among supporters and critics of the former presidential candidate, as the race toward 2027 gradually takes shape.
