The Acting Commissioner of Police in Cross River State, DCP Godwin Etim Effiong, has reaffirmed the Command's commitment to strengthening its partnership with the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) to improve security and community policing across the state.
The assurance came on Thursday, July 30, when the National Chairman of the PCRC, Alhaji Mogaji Ibraheem Olaniyan, led a delegation on a courtesy visit to the Cross River State Police Command Headquarters in Calabar.
The delegation was received by the Acting Commissioner of Police alongside members of the Command Management Team.
During the meeting, both parties discussed ways to deepen the existing relationship between the Nigeria Police Force and the PCRC, with a focus on community policing, crime prevention and improving public safety across Cross River State.
A major highlight of the discussions was the PCRC's proposed Safe Schools Initiative, aimed at creating awareness against violence in schools and promoting a safer learning environment for students.
Speaking during the visit, the National Chairman of the PCRC reaffirmed the committee's commitment to supporting the Police through community engagement, public enlightenment and other initiatives that encourage residents to work closely with security agencies.
He also announced the successful conduct of the Zone 6 and Cross River State PCRC Executive Elections held at the Zone 6 Headquarters in Calabar, where new executives were elected to serve for the next four years.
Responding, the Acting Commissioner of Police thanked the PCRC for its consistent support to the Command and its contributions toward maintaining peace and security in the state.
He urged the committee to sustain its collaboration with the Police, noting that effective policing requires active participation from members of the public and relevant stakeholders.
The police boss also congratulated the newly elected Zone 6 and Cross River State PCRC executives, wishing them a successful and impactful tenure.
The Cross River State Police Command reiterated its commitment to working with the PCRC and other stakeholders to build safer communities and strengthen security across the state.
