The member representing Boki/Ikom Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Victor Abang, PhD, has called on the Federal Government to take urgent steps to address repeated alleged incursions by Cameroonian soldiers into Danare Community in Boki Local Government Area of Cross River State.
Speaking on the floor of the House of Representatives while moving a Motion of Urgent National Importance, Abang expressed concern over what he described as recurring attacks and intimidation of residents in the border community, warning that the situation poses a threat to both the safety of citizens and Nigeria's territorial integrity.
According to the lawmaker, the Federal Government must urgently strengthen security in the affected communities to protect lives and property while also pursuing diplomatic engagement with the Republic of Cameroon to end the alleged border violations.
"The people of Danare and every Nigerian living in our border communities deserve to live in peace, free from fear and intimidation," Abang said during his presentation before the House.
He maintained that safeguarding Nigeria's territorial integrity and ensuring the security of citizens should remain a top national priority.
Abang also reaffirmed his commitment to representing the interests of the people of Boki/Ikom Federal Constituency, stating that he would continue to ensure their concerns receive attention at the highest levels of government.
The motion seeks to draw national attention to the security challenges facing border communities in Cross River State and calls for swift government intervention to prevent further incidents.
