The number of Ebola cases recorded in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has risen to 4,449, with 2,061 deaths reported amid an ongoing outbreak.
According to data released by health authorities, the latest figures represent a significant increase from the 3,605 cases and 1,587 deaths recorded as of July 30, 2026.
The outbreak, which is being driven by the Bundibugyo strain of the Ebola virus, was declared in May 2026 and has continued to spread across affected communities.
Health authorities are carrying out surveillance, testing and other containment measures to control the spread of the virus.
However, challenges including insecurity, population movement and limited access to healthcare facilities are reportedly making efforts to contain the outbreak more difficult.
Ebola is a highly infectious disease that can cause severe illness and death, particularly when treatment is delayed.
Health officials continue to urge residents in affected areas to follow public health guidelines, report suspected cases and cooperate with health workers as efforts to contain the outbreak continue.
