The 2027 political consultations of Hon. Abang Pius Besong, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Ikom/Boki Federal Constituency, are gaining momentum as residents of Buda Ward and Oku/Borum/Njua Ward in Boki Local Government Area have expressed strong support for his political ambition.
The consultations, which also featured the presence of the PDP senatorial candidate, Hon. John Ifere, popularly known as Young Money, provided an opportunity for community members to express their concerns and expectations ahead of the 2027 elections.
In Buda Ward, residents reportedly declared their readiness to support the PDP, pointing to what they described as the party’s record of projects and development during its previous administrations.
The people also expressed concerns over the current economic hardship and challenges confronting residents, saying they were interested in a change of direction ahead of the 2027 elections.
Their declaration that they had “gone back to our roots” and would not “go back to Egypt again” was presented as a strong indication of their renewed support for the PDP.
A similar reception was recorded in Oku/Borum/Njua Ward, where residents reportedly waited for the PDP team despite the lateness of the hour and difficult road conditions.
According to the organisers, some residents insisted they would not return to their homes until the PDP candidates arrived to meet with them.
The development was described as a boost to Abang Pius Besong’s ongoing consultations across the constituency, particularly as the former political aide and businessman continues to engage communities ahead of the 2027 contest for the Ikom/Boki Federal Constituency seat.
The participation of Hon. John Ifere, the PDP senatorial candidate, was also seen as a major boost to the consultations, bringing the federal constituency and senatorial campaigns together as party leaders and supporters engage directly with voters across Boki.
For Abang Pius Besong, the consultations provide an opportunity to strengthen his relationship with constituents, listen to community concerns and present his vision for representation at the National Assembly.
The reception in the two wards adds to the growing political activities in Boki as parties and aspirants begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The communities’ expressions of support, however, remain political declarations ahead of the election, with the final test expected at the polls in 2027.
Hon. Abang Pius Besong and Hon. John Ifere are campaigning under the PDP banner, with Besong seeking election to the Federal House of Representatives for Ikom/Boki Federal Constituency and Ifere seeking the Senate seat.
